Community groups, organisations and services across Queensland now have access to a useful new tool to help assess and strengthen their disaster readiness.

Local organisations are vital in supporting their communities before, during and after a disaster event. If you are a local volunteer of staff member whose team could support people after a disaster, how prepared are you to keep operating if you were in the disaster zone?

HBNC supports the Neighbourhood Centres Queensland’s (NCQ) official launch of the Resilience Readiness Scorecard - a free, research-based online tool designed specifically for Neighbourhood and Community Centres, as well as the broader community sector. The tool aims to support organisations in building resilience before, during and after disaster events.

Access the Resilience Readiness Scorecard here

The Scorecard has an easy-to-use set of questions that encourages organisations to reflect on their current level of disaster preparedness, identify strengths and show areas for improvement.

The Resilience Readiness Scorecard is:

✅ Free to use

✅ Easy to navigate

✅ Based on nationally funded research

✅ Co-designed with Neighbourhood Centres in Queensland

✅ Designed for community organisations of all size

Organisations are encouraged to set aside an hour or two, gather a small group of staff and volunteers, and work through the Scorecard together. By doing so, they will gain a clearer picture of their current disaster readiness and where to focus their efforts going forward.

HBNC is offering to co-host free one-to-one sessions and group workshops for community groups, organisations and services in the local area to share the tool and support local resilience-building efforts.
