Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre’s recent Pitch Night was filled with innovation and community spirit and it was David Sutherland who drove away with support from Fraser Coast Mates and Red Bike Adventures.

David was awarded $1,250 to help fund the purchase of a driving simulator, an initiative designed to support young people and multicultural community members to gain confidence in gaining their driver’s licence.

The project aims to break down barriers for those who face challenges accessing traditional driver training, providing a safe and supportive environment to build confidence behind the wheel, David said.

“The driving simulator will help us give community members the opportunity to learn essential driving skills, increasing independence and employability,” he said. 

The night showcased the power of community-led ideas and the difference local innovation can make when given the chance to grow.
