About us News NATHAN'S CORNER: Meet Michelle Rogers I am humbled and honoured to write this article on Michelle Rogers. Michelle is responsible for servicing the Self Employment Assistance (SEA) program in the Fraser Coast and Bundaberg areas with BUSY at Work. SEA helps people with business start-ups. If you have a business idea, this program can assist you in achieving your goals. I am currently working with Michelle on my writing business. I am very grateful to have her assistance. In recent correspondence with Michelle, I asked the following questions. These were her replies. What is your role at Busy at Work? I am the Small Business Coordinator for the Self Employment Assistance program at BUSY at Work, and I love what I do. I work with clients all the way from Gympie to Bundaberg, focusing especially on the Fraser Coast. My job is to help people take their business ideas and turn them into reality, guiding them every step of the way. What made you take this role? I took this role because I have been in the shoes of many of my clients. Having worked in employment services and running my own businesses, I know how challenging yet rewarding self-employment can be. I wanted to share my experiences to help others follow their dreams. Plus, I care deeply about my community in Hervey Bay and saw an opportunity to help it grow by supporting local entrepreneurs. How has your job benefited the community? I am proud to say we have helped launch more than 40 new businesses through the SEA program, during my time here. The excitement from our clients and the interest in self-employment is really encouraging. We offer training, mentorship, and resources that cater to their needs, which has led to a fantastic mix of businesses, from creative authors to skilled tradespeople. It is heartwarming to see these new ventures flourish and contribute to our community, creating jobs and a sense of connection among local business owners. Why do you do it? What is your motivation? My motivation is all about my clients and their journeys. There is nothing quite like seeing the joy on their faces when they open their businesses or achieve important milestones. Whether it is helping them navigate paperwork, sorting them into the SEA payment or helping them set up their first website, I love being part of their success stories. Knowing I can make a positive impact in their lives, drives me every day, and it is incredibly fulfilling to watch them grow in confidence and skill as they pursue their dreams. Michelle is passionate about using her knowledge to foster people to become future business owners and entrepreneurs. We are lucky to have this program on the Fraser Coast. So, if you have a business idea, do not brush it off. Take a leap. There could be milestones or failures, but who cares? Speaking from experience, it could be life-changing. Thank you, Michelle, and BUSY at Work.
