Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre – Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Program Be the Reason Someone Smiles Today Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre – Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Program Here in Hervey Bay, where the sea breeze carries stories of a life well lived, many of our elderly residents sit quietly in aged care rooms—waiting. Waiting for a friendly face, a warm conversation, a shared laugh over a game of cards or a chat about a memory from the past. And right now, they’re waiting for you. The Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre is calling on compassionate locals to join our Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS). We’re looking for everyday heroes—perhaps someone like you—to give just two hours a month to brighten the lives of seniors in our community. Why It Matters Hervey Bay is home to a large population of older Australians, many of whom moved here for the lifestyle but now find themselves without close family or friends nearby. While they receive excellent nursing care, what’s missing is the simple joy of companionship—someone to talk to, laugh with, or share a quiet moment. What You’ll Do • Visit a senior in aged care or at home for approximately 1-2hrs a month • Share stories, play games, do crafts, share a meal, read a book or simply chat • Offer friendship, warmth, and a sense of connection Just 20 hours a year can make a world of difference to someone who feels forgotten. And in return, you’ll gain the deep satisfaction of knowing you’ve made someone’s day—and maybe even a new friend. Join Us To become a volunteer, email or call our team to have a chat with our friendly administration team. You can also drop in and meet our team at the Urangan Community Wellness Centre, Elizabeth St Urangan, or the Hervey Bay Community Centre, 22 Charles St Pialba. Let’s make Hervey Bay not just a beautiful place to live, but a truly caring community. Your kindness could be the highlight of someone’s month. Will you answer the call? EmailCall
