About us News Community health in focus at special pop-up clinic Community members took important steps towards better health outcomes at a special pop-up clinic. The Pop-Up Community Health Clinic, hosted at the Hervey Bay Community Centre, brought together local healthcare providers such as dentists and chiropractors who offered free consultations with follow up sessions to community members in need of health support. The clinic was made possible by a generous community donation, as well as funding from Metlen Energy and Metals through the Social Innovators Pitch Night. The pop-up clinic pitch, presented by Danny Mattsson, Rotary Community Leader was the Judges’ Choice Award Winner. Danny said, “We know that cost is a major barrier for accessing healthcare, especially for people who are already doing it tough, so we wanted to provide some relief during the Christmas period.” The clinic was run in conjunction with HBNC’s weekly community meal, Comfort Kitchen supported by the Hervey Bay RSL, and local partners We Care 2 and Kindness Works to ensure it was available to community members who need it most. Operations Manager, Christian Berechree said, “We heard about one lady who had lived with persistent back pain for eight years. She connected with the team from Holistic Spinal Health, and will hopefully continue to make progress as she makes follow-up appointments. “Another visitor said he had never been to a dentist before. He was able to meet Dr Moon from Aura Dental, who helped break down some barriers, and the concern he felt about visiting the dentist.” Our hope is that people in our community who need support with their physical health will have the opportunity to access some of our amazing local services. Thank you to Aura Dental, Holistic Spinal Health, BeMee and Q Clinic for donating time and providing their expert services to people in our community who need it most. Comfort Kitchen is proudly supported by Hervey Bay RSL.
