Be A Part of The Art Story Wall Call for Creatives: Phase 2 of Hervey Bay’s ‘Art Story Wall’ Now Open Following the vibrant success of its initial launch, the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre (HBNC) is officially calling on local creatives to help expand the Art Story Wall. Phase 2 of the Art Story Wall is now underway, and we are seeking artists to transform the Bideford Street Bike Track wall into a living tapestry of community connection. The project, which saw over 40 artists participate in Phase 1, uses weatherproof marine ply panels as canvases to explore what it means to feel seen, safe, and connected in Hervey Bay. From multicultural celebrations to the simple joy of a shared morning coffee, the exhibit aims to capture the “thousand small moments” that build a sense of belonging. The Theme: Belonging in All Its Forms HBNC is looking for bold, welcoming, and community-centered designs. Artists are encouraged to explore the theme through: Everyday Belonging: Shared meals, warm greetings, group walks, or playful connections. Diverse Community Life: Multicultural events, intergenerational exchanges, and welcoming gestures. Personal Identity: Reflections on culture, joy, or a deep connection to the local landscape. How to Participate Selected artists will receive a marine ply panel supplied by HBNC, which can be collected from The Neighbourhood Hive. Key Responsibilities & Dates: Art Style: Bold and inclusive visuals using a bright, positive color palette. Deadline: Finished artwork must be returned to The Neighbourhood Hive by June 30th. The Story: Each artist will provide a 2-minute video message explaining the story behind their work. A professional videographer will be provided by 15 June to help capture these stories. The Celebration: Artists must be available to attend the official Phase 2 launch event in July. A Proven Success Phase 1 of the project has already transformed a once-blank retaining wall into a beautiful tapestry. By scanning QR codes attached to the panels, passersby can watch videos of the artists, making the bike track an interactive storytelling experience. Phase 2 seeks to build on this momentum, adding even more voices and visions to the trail. Get Involved Local artists of all skill levels—whether practicing abstract, figurative, or symbolic styles—are encouraged to apply. For more information on how to secure your panel and join this landmark project, visit the Neighbourhood Hive or contact HBNC on 4194 3000. You can view the stories of the existing artists here.
