Sporting clubs across the Fraser Coast are being invited to take part in a new learning series designed to strengthen club leadership, support volunteers, and build more sustainable community sport organisations.

The Active Clubs Network is a practical, capacity-building forum for sporting clubs, committees, coaches, and volunteers who want clear, accessible support to help their clubs operate effectively and plan for the future.

Delivered by Fraser Coast Regional Council as part of the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre’s Neighbourhood Night Studio, the Active Clubs Network responds directly to the real challenges facing local clubs — from leadership responsibilities and compliance through to volunteer support, inclusion, and funding readiness.

“Most sporting clubs are run by volunteers who care deeply but are often juggling multiple responsibilities,” said Michaela Davis, Local Learning Network Team Leader at Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre. “The Active Clubs Network is about making leadership feel less overwhelming and giving people clear, practical tools to support their clubs and each other.”

Each session is designed to be:

  • Beginner-friendly and jargon-free

  • Practical and solution-focused

  • Led by experienced facilitators and sector professionals

  • Grounded in real-world club challenges and scenarios

The first session in the series will focus on Club Development, supporting clubs to build strong foundations, confident leadership teams, and clear, effective processes.

The session will be delivered by Fraser Coast Regional Council and the Department of Sport and Recreation Queensland, providing clubs with trusted, up-to-date guidance tailored to community sport.
