New ‘Paws & People’ program supports pet owners through learning, care and connection

Pet owners across the Fraser Coast are invited to take part in a new six-week evening program designed to support confident, informed and compassionate pet care.

Delivered by K9 Socialisation & Training, Paws & People is a relaxed, community-based learning series running on Thursday nights from 12 February to 19 March, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at The Neighbourhood Hive. The program is open to pet owners at all stages and focuses on practical, real-life topics that support the wellbeing of both pets and the people who care for them.

Delivered in a welcoming and non-judgemental environment, Paws & People provides participants with opportunities to learn about pet behaviour, health, enrichment and long-term care, while also connecting with other local pet owners. Sessions are beginner-friendly and guided by experienced facilitators, with time for questions, discussion and shared learning.

The six-week series aims to build confidence and understanding around responsible pet ownership, helping participants strengthen their relationships with their pets and feel better equipped to respond to everyday challenges.

“Caring for pets is about relationships, not perfection,” said Michaela Davis, Local Learning Team Leader at HBNC. “Paws & People creates a calm, supportive space where people can learn, ask questions and feel confident in the choices they’re making for their animals.”

The program is suitable for all pet owners and does not require any prior knowledge or experience. Participants are encouraged to attend the full series to gain the most benefit, though the sessions are designed to be accessible and practical for everyday life.
