Services Social Spark Lab: Social Innovation Training for Young People HBNC, in partnership with Volunteering Queensland and the Bendigo Community Bank, is excited to announce a dynamic Social Innovation Training program tailored for young individuals aged 13-17 years old. This initiative aims to empower youth with the skills and mindset needed to drive positive change within their communities. The program will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of social innovation, equipping them with the tools to identify community challenges and develop sustainable solutions. Through two interactive four-hour workshops, the young participants will learn critical skills in problem-solving, systems mapping and project implementation. A key feature of the training is its focus on real-world application. Participants will work on live projects that address actual community issues, providing them with hands-on experience and the opportunity to see the tangible impact of their efforts. The partnership with Bendigo Community Bank brings invaluable resources and expertise to the program, including funding opportunities for projects. This collaboration aims to nurture a new generation of community changemakers who are giving back to the community to make the world a better place. A Youth Social Innovators Pitch event is scheduled for the 29 April 2026 where the youth will present their ideas they have been working and seek funding to support implementation of their idea. The Social Spark Lab is delivered as two three-hour workshops (2-4 weeks apart) on school site or off school site depending on the schools requests. All staff engaged in the delivery of the program have Working with Children Blue Cards. The program is designed to support up to 20 students per three-hour session. There is a 15 minute break in the middle of the program delivery to allow students time to eat and use the restrooms. There is no cost to the school to deliver this program as it is funded by Volunteering Queensland.
