What's on Neighbourhood Night Studio - Active Clubs Network - Volunteering Volunteers are the heart of community sport, yet many clubs are facing increasing pressure to recruit, support, and retain people in volunteer roles. Session Three of the Active Clubs Network focuses on Volunteering, providing sporting clubs with practical strategies to attract volunteers, support them effectively, and create positive, sustainable volunteer experiences. This session explores how clubs can build a strong volunteer culture that values people’s time, skills, and lived experience, while reducing burnout and improving retention. The emphasis is on realistic, achievable approaches that work for clubs of all sizes. Participants will gain insights into: Recruiting volunteers in ways that align with modern lifestyles Creating clear, achievable volunteer roles and expectations Supporting, recognising, and retaining volunteers Reducing volunteer fatigue and preventing burnout Building positive volunteer pathways within clubs As with all Active Clubs Network sessions, this workshop is: Beginner-friendly and jargon-free Practical and solution-focused Led by experienced facilitators Designed around real-world club challenges This session is ideal for committee members, volunteer coordinators, coaches, and club leaders who want to strengthen volunteer engagement and ensure their club remains sustainable and welcoming. Delivered by Fraser Coast Regional Council as part of the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre’s Neighbourhood Night Studio, the Active Clubs Network provides clear, accessible learning tailored to the needs of community sport on the Fraser Coast. Free dinner and $5 on-site supervised childrens activities will be provided, supporting parents and carers to attend. Neighbourhood Night Studio is a relaxed, welcoming after-hours creative space where adults can explore art, learn new skills, and connect with others in a supportive, no-pressure environment. Running weekly in the early evening, the program is designed for beginners and non-artists, with an emphasis on process over perfection and people over performance. To remove barriers and make participation easy, sessions are low-cost, wheelchair accessible, and supported with clear, encouraging guidance. To further support inclusion, Free dinner and $5 on-site supervised childrens activities will be provided, supporting parents and carers to attend, slow down, and enjoy time for creativity, connection, and wellbeing.
